Writing

Well, it seems I have grossly neglected this blog. Sometimes life becomes so busy that other endeavors have to be pushed aside. Namely, the blog. Aside from taking care of the boys, working a full-time and part-time job, and tending to household chores such as laundry, I have been writing. In September, Inside/Outside Magazine ceased publication, thereby ending my almost-two-year position as columnist with them. However, it has given me time to focus on other projects.

At present, I am in the process of writing two manuscripts:

  • A non-fiction book about our 14-month travels throughout contiguous United States to visit the national parks. On day five of our journey, I found I was pregnant with Zane. Yet we continued our travels, I gave birth to him on the road, and five days later we learned about his Trisomy 18 diagnosis.
                                            and

  • A young adult fiction book about a teenage girl dealing with abandonment by her mother and the upcoming wedding of her dad. She befriends an ostracized boy who takes her on a search for the Lost Dutchman’s Mine in the Superstition Mountains where the two discover something far richer than gold.

My deadline for the non-fiction book is February 1st. I have a publisher who may be interested in the manuscript, but I need to finish it first. The young adult book has no deadline for completion. I have yet to find the right agent or publisher for my work, which also consists of three other novels. I truly believe perseverance is key to success in writing.

Thanks for visiting.
