Every year I participate, I swear it will be my last. But I ducked under the wire with just over 50K words toward my YA superhero book. This was the
first book I’ve written where the plotting was—eh hem—dicey to non-existent.
And it was hard. Very hard. Of course, the novel is not finished at 50K words
(18K of which I think I need to cut). But when it is complete, I have major
rewrites in my future.
I am still editing and revising my 2009 NaNo book, as well.
And that one had an outline of sorts.
My 2011 NaNo novel, HAUNTED, releases on December 17th.
I did learn that (aside from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend)
it is really quite easy to write 2,000 words a day if I stay off social media.
Imagine that! I’m going to try to keep up that daily word count going forward.
After a much-needed break, of course. I have some reading I want to catch up on
before delving back into writing this week.
Did you participate in NanoWriMo this year? Will you do it
again next year? What was your experience like?

I'm so impressed that you were able to do this with all you have going on. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteI didn't participate this year but really enjoyed it last year. And I got The Ghosts of Aquinnah out of it so I'll always be a NaNo fan. :)
Congratulations on another win! And cool your NaNo from two years ago will soon be a book. That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe whole social media suckage, huh? I wish NaNo was during the beginning of the year! It would make it so much easier for me to partake. Major congrats on you finishing yet again!
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan…
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on finishing NaNo AND your newest book…I really like the title and cover.
Wishing you ALL THE BEST!
Thanks for the lovely comment at my blog. Funny. Everyone is picking up on my word pics, but I was not aware of it being so vivid. It's just me and the way I write.
I certainly wish I can write more. No time for ANYTHING these days. I had so many set backs starting with the accident and two months of healing. Then the Colombian trip and all the highs and lows. Now I'm back, feverishly trying to catch up and then … The holidays… Where did this year go?
Sending lots of hugs you way. I think of you often and hope you are still well….
Haven't done NaNo in a couple of years as my Novembers turn crazy with work. Congrats on finishing and on your upcoming release.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Susan! Completing NaNo is a Major Big Deal! Launching a book from NaNo's nursery is totally awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for your well wishes. . save for two diminishing bruises on my cheeks, er, the buttocks type, I'm back into the groove.
Yep, I didn't realise how much social media was eating up my time until I had to back off to complete NaNo.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for the win!! Good luck with the editing and completion.
Congrats on winning NaNo!
ReplyDeleteIt's great you're releasing one of your past NaNo novels. I'd like to do NaNo and see what I come up with.
