Melissa Maygrove is hosting a Follow Fest this week
as a way for bloggers to connect with each other. Some of my favorite people
are fellow bloggers and writers. And I always have room for more!
So let’s start with some introductions, shall we?
Name: Susan Oloier
Fiction
or nonfiction? Both
What
genres do you write? Young Adult contemporary fiction,
Adult contemporary fiction, memoir, and I just completed a YA Contemporary with
ghostly elements.
Are you
published? Yes. I have three novels published
(two YA & an Adult contemp) and a book of short memoirs published, as well.
I’ve also had essays published at The Daily Beast and in online journals. I used
to write a column for Inside/OutsideMagazine.
Do you
do anything in addition to writing?
Outside
of writing, I’m mom to two phenomenal boys and I'm attempting to return to
teaching after being away for seven years. I love exercise and outdoor pursuits.

there anything else you’d like us to know?
I co-write the YA blog, Moxie Writers, with fellow
author, Rebecca Green Gasper. And I love to support fellow writers and feature
them on my blog.
Many thanks to Melissa for coordinating this blog hop, and for all of you for visiting! Have a wonderful day.

I LOVE how you incorporated the colors of the blog button into your post. So eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteSeeing how each writer crafts their post has been an unexpected and fun part of the fest for me.
Thanks for participating. :)
Hey Susan, nice to meet you! I'm a big fan of the Daily Beast.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Susan. I also write contemporary YA (my debut also has 'ghostly elements').
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! Good luck with returning to the teaching world after being away for seven years!
ReplyDeleteHi! Nice to meet you! I see your a mom too *wink wink*
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting back to teaching!
Awesome! Can't believe how few of the places I was connected with you, Susan. Especially considering how long I've known you around the blogging world. (Yes, I might be calling us 'old dogs' :D)
ReplyDeleteMost importantly, I've subscribed by email to your blog (important for me now that Google Reader and the dinosaurs are hanging out).
Hi Susan!!!! I'm still brainstorming, too...we have to chat again soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Follow Fest! I write mainly in the Children's arena but currently working on a YA mystery and a YA fantasy which is taking me on an awesome ride...;~)
I am host of WRITERLY WISDOM WEDNESDAYS on my blog where authors, agents, and illustrators provide guest posts on everything regarding the writing and publishing industry. Come by some time and join the fun!
Take care,

And you ladies had a great theme for the A to Z Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHow great! What do you teach?
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you!
Fantastic to learn about your publications and your quest to return to teaching. Very inspiring! I'm interested in YA, so I will check out Moxie Writers.
ReplyDeleteI love all the colours for your links, and good luck getting back into the teaching. I am sure you will do great :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, good to meet you through Follow Fest!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Melissa about the colors, your post looks great. Good luck getting back to teaching. Students would be lucky to have you. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard getting back into a classroom, so keep your chin up. I had to sub for a year every time we moved before I got a classroom.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm a teacher too! Following you on Twitter, FB, Goodreads, and I "liked" your Amazon page.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure reading about you. I followed you on all mutual venues. :) Sounds like you and Rebecca have it going on with Moxie Writes. I'll have to check it out. Come over to my mansion any day.

Hi, Susan,
ReplyDeleteSuch a busy lady. I'm impressed with all your literary pursuits. Congrats.
I think it's wonderful that you wish to return to teaching. Such an admirable profession.
Glad to hear you're still fit and healthy.
ALL THE BEST!
Nice to meet you, from your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, nice to meet you and thank you for mentioning your fb writing groups on my blog yesterday. I'm looking for a group that I can share short excerpts from my manuscripts and other writing projects in order to get some honest and constructive feedback. I'm new to the writing community and I know I have a lot to learn, which means I'm mostly all ears with limited experience to share. But if you have any ideas what groups might be a good fit I'd be very grateful. And good luck getting back into teaching! The only teaching I do over here is conversational English. (:
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. Also a mom and former teacher flirting with going back to the classroom after 9 years out. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get around to a memoir at some point . . . Thanks for stopping by my site earlier! ~M
ReplyDeleteA contemporary with ghost elements sounds interesting! Good luck in going back into the classroom. Sounds like you keep yourself busy too!
ReplyDeleteHello, Susan, nice to meet you! Sounds like you're a very busy woman.
ReplyDeletePretty much following you everywhere already. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting back to teaching.
The colors were such a great idea! Seven years is a while to be gone from teaching, but I'ms sure you'll fall back into it well and have fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! New follower via Follow Fest. It's nice to meet you and learn a little about you :)
ReplyDeleteHi, it's great to meet you on this follow fest! Wish you all the best with getting back to teaching - an honorable goal. I've followed where I could and liked your amazon author page. :) Writer’s Mark
ReplyDeleteHi Susan. I'm catching up from follow fest--nice to meet you!

Hi Susah, I'm also very late in getting around to all the participating blogs. I write a lot of genres including contemporary, and yes I have written about ghosts too. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, wrote your name wrong - it was a total typo though, I didn't really think it was spelled that way. haha
