I’ve been feeling low about life lately. A lot of
not-so-good things have happened to me in 2013. I moved, lost my job, have been
unable to find a new one, lost my health insurance (with a cancer diagnosis in
my recent history), my writing has been rejected left and right, and I’ve been
dealing with my younger son’s health issues and working hard to get him the
support and medical attention he needs (full-time job, really).
So this past weekend was an absolute treat! Why? you may
wonder.
- We took our oldest to his first rock concert—REO Speedwagon. It was a great show, and he loved it…until he started to peter out around the 9:00 mark. He is so not a night owl.
- Overall, I biked approximately 30 miles this weekend on a trail near our house. I love the endorphins from exercise! I’m definitely more fit now that I was in my 20s.
- I haven’t seen a movie at the theater in years. So this weekend I saw Elysium with the hubby. Not such a great movie, but the popcorn was good and it was nice to get away.
What did you do this past weekend?

After all that, glad you've had a good weekend! REO Speedwagon - they are still touring, huh? And I know I'm in better shape now than I was in my twenties. Weird how that happens, huh?
ReplyDeleteSusan, it sounds like you more than needed this kind of weekend. I hope there are many more like these in your future. Keep taking care of yourself and may the rest fall in place soon.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you got some good time out which is really needed sometimes. Hope life in general improves. This weekend, we did some rearrangement of furniture so my wife can make her artwork in the living room. A small achievement, but we can now spend more time together!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool you took your son to a concert! I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. So sorry for your current troubles. I know it can be disheartening, but keep writing. (Hugs)
ReplyDeleteSusan, yes, it sounds like you've been through a lot, but life is good and you definitely have some pluses in there. I hope things will improve.
ReplyDeleteI hope the remainder of 2013 is wonderful enough to make up for the rest of it my friend :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I agree - popcorn makes everything better :)
Susan, so glad you had some positive fun events to enjoy!!! Guess what my first concert ever was...REO Speedwagon! I was 11 and with my parents!
ReplyDeleteI hope the rest of 2013 and all of 2014 make up for what started as a terrible 2013. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize REO Speedwagon was still around.
so happy to hear, you enjoyed yourself this past weekend----yep, that's what i love most about the movies--that popcorn---as a matter of fact, there is this one that we just run into for the popcorn alone, they use the old kind of popper----never have seen reo--bet it was good!! hope you have more days like these :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for all the troubles you've had this year, Susan. But so glad you got to have a great weekend and enjoy yourself. You definitely deserved that!
