Show of hands. Who out there used to watch The Facts of
Life? Or maybe, if you were merely a twinkle in someone’s eye, you’ve seen it
on TV Land in reruns.
The show was a spinoff from Diff’rent Strokes. You know, the
“whatcha talkin’ ‘bout, Willis” show? The premise was that Edna Garrett, the
housekeeper from Diff’rent Strokes, becomes a housemother at an all-female
boarding school in New York
While the main cast didn’t go on to super-fame, the show did
star some others you might know of today:
George Clooney played contractor, George Burnett.
Molly Ringwald (of 80s fame) played Molly Parker. (Notice how they both used their real first names?)
Lauren Tom (Joy Luck Club; Julie on Friends; voice of Inez
on King of the Hill) played recurring character, Miko Wakamatsu.
Jami Gertz played
snobby Boots St. Clair
