It’s been a rough week. I was rejected by the Austin Film Festival, turned down by another New York agent. Trying to pitch writing projects is a challenging feat. Fortunately, I am not easily deterred. And, with the ever-growing piles of rejections that I am collecting, I find myself in good company.
Famous rejections:
Margaret Mitchell: 38 different publishers rejected Gone with the Wind.
Stephen King: Over 30 rejections for Carrie.
Elie Wiesel: 15 rejections for Night.
Alex Haley, author of Roots: wrote every day for 8 years before selling to a small magazine.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: 140 rejections AND their agent dropped them.
Meg Cabot of The Princess Diaries: 17 rejections.
Perseverance is the word of the day. I am never giving up.
I'm not giving up either. I just feel a little wounded. It will pass.
