I would love to live in Ouray. Since I can’t, I am going to visit the town this weekend with my loving husband. We’re celebrating our anniversary, and with the generosity of my in-laws, we have someone to watch the boys. They’ve driven all the way from Oregon to give us some respite.
We’ve been to the town many times. There are so many amazing things to do there: rock climbing, hiking the perimeter trail, drinking hot chocolate and eating Magic bars from Mouse’s, and basking in the warm waters of the hot springs.
If I win the lottery or get an outstanding book deal, I am buying a second home there. There’s an ice park at Box Canon Falls (a sport we’ve only done twice before). Plus, over the pass is Telluride with its phenomenal ski resort. It’s a great place for year-round recreation. Just not the best place to find a job.
