Tuesday Check-In

Despite the desire to relax with my kiddos this summer, I’ve made some writing progress.

MG Horror. My older son and I made some serious headway on our first book in the series he created. At times we’ve had our creative differences, but we’re cruising along nicely.

Trilogy. I can really fall in love with this one if I let myself. I’ve reluctantly worked on it for fear of doing it an injustice. I am in love with so many of my characters already. That said, I still have a long way to go in book one.

Memoir. I received feedback from my critique partner and have moved into the editing and revising stage.

Short Memoir. I started working on a follow-up book to My Life as a Misfit and stalled. I am only a few pages into my first story in the new book.

Adult Contemporary. This is at a stand-still, too. The draft has been complete for a couple of years, but it needs so much work that I only manage a page of edits here and there.

YA Contemporary. Out on query. We’ll see what happens. I received great feedback from two readers. I have high hopes for this one!

What are you working on this summer? Are your creative juices flowing?

  1. I can't imagine juggling that many at once. My brain can only focus on one story at a time. Good for you.

  4. You're a busy writing lady! :D My writing this summer has been almost non-existant due to the move. But I plan on fixing that soon. I'm going to begin another one of my Moonsongs novelettes (New Adult, speculative) and try to finish a New Adult contemporary I've been slowly navigating. :)

  5. I LOVE that you're working on a project with you son. My oldest has several books started, and one concept that would be a total MG gold mine, but the time to develop it all? Whew! I'm making him read my writing books and practice in his spare time--and take intensive English classes. We brainstorm together and discuss aspects of our writing, but a collaborative project? That would be too cool.

  6. I'm editing for the most part with the occasional time off for good behavior in which I play with new toys or watch Burn Notice. Oh, and enjoy the warmer weather :)
