I really love the books of Meg Cabot. This one—not so much. The idea and even the characterizations are great. But she holds back way too much, leaving me mostly confused throughout the book. I am 2/3 through it, so I will go ahead and finish it.

What did you recently finish reading?

Two Ann Patchett books:

The first one I truly enjoyed, but (honestly) I did not find her friend, Lucy, to be a likeable person. Sorry L

The second: Really not worth my time or the $2.99 I spent on the e-book. There really wasn’t any valuable info about writing in it. Again, sorry L

What do you think you’ll read next?

I love Nicki Elson’s blog. I am really excited to read her book!

I’ll also be reading my crit partner’s (the awesome Shawna at My Journey) novel to give her detailed feedback. I’ve already read a few pages, and I’m hooked!

So what are you reading these days?

I finally got around to it after all these weeks of claiming it was next on my TBR list. I really like this so far. It is a book about a lasting friendship through the ups and downs of life. It makes me reflect on my own friendships and realize a greater sense of gratitude for my own friendships that have withstood the test of time.

What did you recently finish reading?

I had a hard time getting into this book at first. But I am glad I stuck with it. Very romantic YA novel with great conflict set against two contrasting backdrops.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Probably. But that is ALWAYS subject to change according to my mood.

I just started, so I have no comments as of yet.

What did you recently finish reading?

All right, so this was not the most upbeat book ever. However, it is nice to read another person’s perspective when it comes to facing life’s challenges, misfortunes, and losses. Elizabeth Edwards definitely made valid points, and I do think this is a good book for those faced with a crisis.

Hmmm. I can’t exactly put my finger on why I could not become engrossed in this book. I think I simply did not find the characters all that interesting and relatable. But that is only my opinion. I know there are many readers out there who are big Sookie Stackhouse fans.

And is it just me, or did this book bear striking similarities to Twilight? Is Stephenie Meyer a Charlaine Harris fan?

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m putting this one back at the top of the TBR list.

My Answers:

·         What are you currently reading?

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. It started off on the slow side, but is now picking up and seems like a fun read.

·         What did you recently finish reading?

The Pact by Jodi Picoult. All right. I did not like this at the very beginning because the pace of the character development dragged. But it was totally worth it. This woman knows how to write. I had a hard time putting the book down after the first 80 pages or so.

·         What do you think you’ll read next?

This is so tough because I have so many books loaded on my iPad and sitting on my bookshelf. But right now, I am leaning toward The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins or Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett.
