WWW Wednesdays

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at ShouldBe Reading.

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’ve transitioned from the audio book to the hardcover. But I was so wrapped up in Columbine that I didn’t get to continue reading this one.

What did you recently finish reading?

Given the difficult subject-matter, I was impressed by Cullen’s writing and how he moved the reader through the events, the backgrounds, the truths, and the falsehoods of the Columbine massacre in 1999. Very disturbing to read about it in depth, but it helped me understand the tragedy better and, more importantly, to get to know the victims from the day.

What do you think you’ll read next?

…if I can renew it at the library since I didn't get around to it this past week, or…

which I just picked up at a used bookstore in town.

What are you reading this week?

The book held my attention, but (in my opinion) was not as captivating as the first.

Jodi Picoult’s characterizations are so deeply mined that the characters felt real to me. I truly enjoyed this book.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Ali is a writer friend of mine. She had some of her first lines up on her website yesterday, and they truly hooked me. Can't wait to read this, as well as the second book in the series, DESOLATE.

My Answers:

·         What are you currently reading?

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. It started off on the slow side, but is now picking up and seems like a fun read.

·         What did you recently finish reading?

The Pact by Jodi Picoult. All right. I did not like this at the very beginning because the pace of the character development dragged. But it was totally worth it. This woman knows how to write. I had a hard time putting the book down after the first 80 pages or so.

·         What do you think you’ll read next?

This is so tough because I have so many books loaded on my iPad and sitting on my bookshelf. But right now, I am leaning toward The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins or Truth and Beauty by Ann Patchett.

Six Things I Did Today...

  1. Read. The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I’ve never read one of her books before. At only 50 pages in, I am not sure what I think yet.
  2. Story Development. Not for one of my books, but for my older son’s. I helped him with character development for a Ninja book he wants to write.
  3. Facebook. I normally am not one to spend much time on FB. But I thought I’d do a little catching up today. After fifteen minutes or so, I was bored.
  4. Played with the boys. Obstacle courses, Lego Ninjago Spinjitzu fights, Ipad applications. And we’re not finished yet.
  5. Exercised. Because I’m out of shape and have to put on a bathing suit tomorrow when I take the boys swimming.
  6. Laundry. It never goes away. In fact, clothes seem to multiply in the hamper like bunnies in a meadow.
