In the Works

Sure, I’ve been a little absent on the blogosphere lately. But that’s because I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on a number of writing projects.

Okay, they’re not actually secret.

First project: My YA romance, HAUNTED. I finished a first/second draft. Who knows what stage it’s really in because I’m an edit-as-I-go type of gal. It was my 2011 NaNo project that took me way longer than a month to complete. It is now in the hands of fabulous and talented Rebecca Green Gasper. She’s going to give me some initial feedback on what works and what doesn’t. Meanwhile—last night—I think I found the perfect cover art. But I need to sit on it for a few days. I’m aiming for a May or June release.

Second project: The memoir about our life on the road back in 2006-07. It’s been written, but I have to rewrite it to strengthen one of the story lines. I hope to start that today.

Third project: The trilogy. My eight-year-old has helped me brainstorm this one. I guess it fits into the YA dystopian genre. I am extremely excited about it. Being the total plotter that I am, the first two books are outlined already. But I need to work on my character development a bit more before launching into the first-draft phase.

Fourth project: A stand-alone YA contemporary. This is still in the development stage. But it won’t go away, so I know it will be written. It focuses on the tough issue of teenage illiteracy.

Plus, I'm doing the A to Z Challenge on two of my blogs.

Whew! I need to go take a nap now.

So what are you working on? Are you participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, too?

  3. You've been busy, Susan! Which is fantastic. :) Your projects sound fun and varied, which would be key for me if I were to try to tackle that many at once.

  6. Hello. I'm doing the A-Z Challenge this year. It's my first time doing it so I'm quite excited, if not a bit impatient to get started. Have you got a theme?
