The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I am only 60-some pages into it and interested to see where she goes with the storyline. It definitely is a character-driven (versus plot-driven) book, much like the types of books I write.
• What did you recently finish reading?
House of Sand and Fog by Andre Dubus III. Loved the book until the ending, which I truly did not expect. Although, the author stayed true to the characters, so it is not an actual flaw in the book.
• What do you think you’ll read next?
Possibly Along for the Ride by Sara Dessen.
I enjoy character-driven books too, but what I've noticed is that I need the character to be someone I like or respect. If the lead character is someone I dislike, it spoils the book for me, no matter how good the writing is or how good the plot line is either.

I think I will read Along for the ride by Sarah Dessen, too, or her newest book. I read House of Sand and Fog so long ago that I can't even remember the ending. Hint?
