WWW Wednesdays

Things have been a little crazy this week with medical issues for the littlest and the almost-loss of his insurance, so I skipped Travel Tuesdays. However, things have seemingly calmed down. With the exception of a string of events this morning at the hospital that—in retrospect—are humorous but were not at the time. See Zane’s blog if you’re interested in the story and his goings on.

Anyway, today is WWW Wednesdays, a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful MizB at Should Be Reading.

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I LOVED (yes, the shouting is intentional) her book Refuge. Terry Tempest Williams is such an eloquent and evocative writer. Plus, she often weaves nature into her writing, which I absolutely adore. This has been on my shelf for quite some time; I am not sure why I haven’t picked it up sooner.

What did you recently finish reading?

I could not put this down! It was really that good! I bought Catching Fire, too. But I need to process The Hunger Games a little while longer before delving into book #2.

Okay, this is so not my type of book. But it was on sale at Waldenbooks due to their going-out-of-business liquidation. So I gave it a try. It showed the world inside reality TV (it is fiction, though), but there was little depth of character and oh-so-much telling and not showing. I wanted to like this book, but I really didn’t feel connected to it in any way.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Hmmmm…I really need to get around to Truth & Beauty by Ann Patchett. It has been on my to-read list before.

  1. Ok, what hit me most about this: Borders is closing! I did not know that, and now I'm so sad! Hopefully, Barnes and Noble isn't next. Thank you for this bittersweet post!

  2. Hunger Games was so good! Favorite of the trilogy.

I just finished Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord. I'm reading 3 books: Bestest. Ramadan. Ever. by Medeira Sharif, Paradise 21 by Aubrie Dionne, and Circle of Secrets by Kimberley Griffiths Little. I'm about to read The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab.

  3. I want to read Hunger Games but for some reason I have never gotten around to it. I think it has something to do with the fact that I have too high expectations for it and I don't want to be disappointed. Glad you liked it. I will have to just dive right in.

  5. I like that you have such variety in your reading. And I'm like you---I need to process books in a series before moving on. Haven't done Hunger Games yet, but it is in my future for sure.

Hey---I've got an award for you over at my blog. :)
