Flashback Fridays

My theme during the A to Z Blogging Challenge was the 1980s. I had so much fun with it that I decided to make it a new feature: Flashback Fridays.

1982. Summer. My parents were taking tennis lessons. They took us to Roosevelt Park in Racine to practice their game. My brother and I somehow got hooked on tennis that summer, too. It was a hot night with the courts lit up like a stage. And this song was playing on the radio. It is forever associated with that tennis night and that summer. When I hear it, I am immediately yanked back to that moment. I love how music does that. It is more linked to memories for me than visuals or smells or tastes.

Anyway, here’s the video for you Asia aficionados…or not.

  1. I love all things 80's. Well, okay, there were a few fashion issues, but the music always made you want to dance. Loved Asia.

  2. Oh the wonderful way a song can talk you traveling back in time. Hey, that could actually be the perfect tool for time travel!

  3. What a nice trip down Music Lane. And what an even better association it is with tennis and a fun time.

  7. I love the 80's. I did not particularly enjoy them while I was there, but looking back, I loved the music and even some of the fashion.

  11. Oh, I am the same way about certain songs, the second I hear them I am right back to a particular time and place. I think music evokes memories for me more than anything else.

I remember my brother had this Asia album and I used to sneak in his room and listen to it when he wasn't home. I loved this song.

So glad you're doing these flashbacks! :)

  12. I love that song. I know what you mean about music connecting to memories. I always think of certain friends when I hear anything by Meatloaf or The Cars.

  13. That's a great song.

Some 80's hits are linked to my childhood memories. Those sings send shivers down my spine when the nostalgia hits me.
