My theme during the A to Z Blogging Challenge was the 1980s. I had so much fun with it that I decided to make it a new feature: Flashback Fridays.
1982. Summer. My parents were taking tennis lessons. They
took us to RooseveltPark in Racine
to practice their game. My brother and I somehow got hooked on tennis that
summer, too. It was a hot night with the courts lit up like a stage. And this
song was playing on the radio. It is forever associated with that tennis night
and that summer. When I hear it, I am immediately yanked back to that moment. I
love how music does that. It is more linked to memories for me than visuals or
smells or tastes.
Anyway, here’s the video for you Asia
aficionados…or not.
haha it is so cool you put this up today--just yesterday i was remembering how fun your az thingy was and kinda missing it!!--great tune--and i used to love tennis too--have a great weekend:)
Oh, I am the same way about certain songs, the second I hear them I am right back to a particular time and place. I think music evokes memories for me more than anything else.
I remember my brother had this Asia album and I used to sneak in his room and listen to it when he wasn't home. I loved this song.
I love that song. I know what you mean about music connecting to memories. I always think of certain friends when I hear anything by Meatloaf or The Cars.
I love all things 80's. Well, okay, there were a few fashion issues, but the music always made you want to dance. Loved Asia.
ReplyDeleteOh the wonderful way a song can talk you traveling back in time. Hey, that could actually be the perfect tool for time travel!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice trip down Music Lane. And what an even better association it is with tennis and a fun time.
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY RAD! (See, I'm a child of the 80's too...;)

I love the 80's. I did not particularly enjoy them while I was there, but looking back, I loved the music and even some of the fashion.
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE ASIA!! Heat of the Moment is one of my favorites. And you are right, they bring me back 30 years in a flash!
ReplyDeleteHooray for Flashback Fridays!! I'm completely with you on songs triggering memories and yanking you back.
ReplyDeleteGreat how songs can always take us back to a moment, tons of great ones came from the 80's.

ReplyDeleteThat's a great song.
ReplyDeleteSome 80's hits are linked to my childhood memories. Those sings send shivers down my spine when the nostalgia hits me.
