If you’re here for the A to Z Challenge, you’ve come to the right place. This is my third year taking part in the Challenge, and I learned from experience that it’s best to have a theme. That said, I am teaming up with YA Author Rebecca Green Gasper this year, and we’re harnessing the power of three under the theme YA Causes/Tough Issues.
So what does that look like?
Moxie Writers will briefly address a YA Cause or Tough Issue facing teens, then offer organizations that aid in the cause, starting with the appropriate letter of the alphabet.
At Rebecca’s blog, she will list a book and characters associated with the issue of the day. This may or may not begin with the designated letter.
Here at my blog, I will share a song with some of the lyrics that pertains to the cause.
Thus, the power of three! Enough said. Onto...
B: Bullying
Hero by Superchick
I love this song because it dismisses the idea of passivity and promotes choice and proactivity.

i am happy you are here and participating, always a good subject to get out there susan!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Lynn. I'm off to visit your blog now.
DeleteHi, Susan...
ReplyDeleteAs I had said at Rebecca's blog earlier this is a situation that sadly will never change. Bullies are everywhere.... HOWEVER, awareness is an excellent way to cut the numbers of cases down and if children have a STABLE and loving home life perhaps these situations will be far less than they are now.
Thanks, Sweetie for the kind comment. I do believe in Karma, when it's my time I will be rewarded in some small way.
Bullying has always been with us. Winston Churchill and C S Lewis were targets. I was a target, too. We are a savage race sadly.
ReplyDeleteLove your theme for AtoZ and love that you teamed up with other blogs for this! Great idea! Not *playing* this April, but will be checking in for sure!
ReplyDeleteHappy April!
Hey Susan! Both of my kids have been bullied at school and I try to nip it in the bud with the help of the school counselor as soon as I learn about it. It's a tough thing to be picked on when you're a kid. I had my share of it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the challenge. You're brave to do so many blogs!
Bullying today is so different from what we endured as kids.
ReplyDeleteI always think of bullying as a children's playground evil. But it's everywhere, isn't it? There's even cyber-bullying. We humans can be so awful. Great to see you again :-)
ReplyDeleteNice post. Bullying is an epidemic and I hope it will eventually stop. We have to teach our children the effects of words and actions and how they can harm a person more than one can imagine.
ReplyDeleteGreat song and great topic for B. It always amazes me how cruel some people can be. My nephew was a victim of bullying and I still get angry when I think about what went on at his school.
ReplyDeleteGood topic for B! I am a high school student who has unfortunately been through more than my fair share of bullying. It sucks that I cannot put a stop to it. I would if I could--trust me!!

Good theme, Susan. Raising awareness is important.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice. Sadly it happens at all ages not just at school.
ReplyDeleteThis is great song! I agree, I love how it promotes standing up and not being a bystander. Great message.
ReplyDeleteGood song. It's really sad that bullying still exists, but I think it will always exist. It's not just in school, but in the adult world as well. I think a lot of the bullying would cease (not all, because there are just some people that don't give up) if people would stand up for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI'm just beginning Ruth Ozeki's new novel, A Tale for the Time Being, which is about bullying in Japan. At least there is a great deal more awareness about bullying than there used to be...but it's also so much serious than it was when we were kids, too.
ReplyDeleteI think it's good that so much about advocating for people's rights is out there. The fewer people who just stand by, the less bullying there will be.
