L: Learning Disabilities

YA Causes/Tough Issues continues with
L: Learning Disabilities

Today’s song: The Climb by Miley Cyrus

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

During a Peak Parent conference in Denver, I had the honor to listen to Jonathan Mooney speak about his personal experience with LD. He is very inspiring. So if you have a moment, check out his video below.

Jonathan is also the author of The Short Bus, which is a great read!

  5. I know hundreds of people with learning disabilities. I work in Voc Rehab and with those in group homes, etc. It's a full-time job and with our current medical climate, I think it's only getting worse as everyone is diagnosed with some kind of learning disability. I hear what you are saying, but I seriously think 1 out of every 3 people in the U.S. can now be diagnosed with a learning disability of some kind by some doctor.

  7. My stepson has a learning disability but he does really well with it. The encouragement and support of those around makes a big difference, just a shame that not everyone has that in the best way.

  8. This is a great choice for the topic. Honestly reading the posts you guys have done so far makes me realize how fortunate I was as a teenager! I was a lucky kid for sure.
