C: Cutting and Self-Injury

YA Causes/Tough Issues continues with
C: Cutting and Self-Injury.

The song that relates to today’s cause is Razor by Foo Fighters.

Wake up it's time
We need to find a better place to hide
Make up your mind
I need to know I need to know tonight

Sweet and divine
Razor of mine
Sweet and divine
Razor blade shine

For organizations that help teens with cutting, visit Moxie Writers’ post today.

  1. I love both discs on that album. This is one of the most difficult issues to deal with no matter what age you are. Thanks to you guys for addressing it today.

  3. This is such a serious subject. Most people try and understand cutting from the point of view of their lives. You can't do that. Empathy and compassion to look at the real suffering a teen is using cutting to hide behind is what's needed.

  4. this seems like it started when my two oldest boys were teenagers, they knew a lot of kids cutting-- at the time we all thought it was just a phase--we didn't realize why all these kids were doing it

  7. I can barely stand to even read those lyrics. And to think that some are actually feeling that way. Praying they all get help and healing. - Barbara

  8. My first novel, Sliding on the Edge is all about cutting. I was so disturbed by what I read on the subject that I had to write about it. I thought I'd write an article, but I didn't. I turned my concern into a piece of fiction, but fiction based on my article research. This is a heartbreaking topic.

  14. I've read where this is all more prevalent than people realize. When I taught school, another teacher had a student who pulled her hair out. Counseling helped but then she graduated . . . don't know how all worked out. For some reason, I've thought about how it did through the years.
