Musical Crushes

I’m one of those writers who writes to music. Some consider it distracting. For me, it’s inspiring. I turn on the computer, plug in the earbuds, and listen while I type away. And there are some musicians that—lately, through all my stress—have been particularly helpful and inspiring. It doesn’t hurt that they’re easy on the eyes, as well as the ears.

Let’s have a looksee, shall we?

Keith Urban

What can I say? I love his music and he looks mighty fine for a forty-something. Nicole is one lucky woman.

Lenny Kravitz

He’s not showing his age AT ALL. Plus, he is the epitome of rock star.

Then there’s Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. I am a sucker for a smile. This guy has beautiful teeth. Plus, he did an awesome job singing “Rock and Roll” in the Led Zeppelin Kennedy Center Tribute. I’ve even included it below for your enjoyment.

Then I have to give a shout-out to Daryl Hall. I have been crushing on him since junior high. I absolutely love his voice!

One of the main characters (Eli Carter) in my just-completed novel, HAUNTED, is a rocker and musician. No doubt I’ve been carrying a definite theme in my life lately.

Do you write to music? Do you have musical crushes?

  2. I always write to music. Mine is more of the progressive rock and heavy metal variety. No crushes, but I would like to play guitar like John Petrucci of Dream Theater.

  3. I can't write to music at all but I wish I could. I love listening to music at any other time. Can't wait to read Haunted, sounds awesome.

And I didn't think about it until seeing this pic but you are so right about Lenny Kravitz. I wish I had his secret to staying so young looking LOL.

  5. Hi, Susan,

Yes, I listen to music when I write too. All types. When I write fantasy, I listen to all the scores from the Harry Potter movies. The instrumentals are stunning.

  6. I love music and am inspired by music all the time, but I can not write to it. I am more likely to get up and dance to music while escaping into story the writer created with the words. I love your choices!

  7. I don't write music, but I love to listen to it and I definitely have musical crushes. Keith Urban is one, and that picture you have is A-MAZ-ING!
I also have a few that aren't so sexy in person but I absolutely love the sound of their voice!
