Before I begin, I want to thank each and every person who has stopped by my blog during the A to Z Challenge. I appreciate all of your comments and encouragement. This challenge has been such an amazing experience for me because of all of you!
Now to the letter O...
I guess I am being a tad lazy today. Two of my manuscripts (both finished) start with O: Our Life on the Road (my travel memoir that will likely make an appearance on T day for travel) and Outcast, my Young Adult contemporary novel.
I simply copied this from my YA page (thus the laziness).
Raised in a Catholic household where she is taught to stay on the straight and narrow and turn the other cheek, Noelle Stark discovers she is tired of being called an outcast and a loser. She wasn’t supposed to fall for Chad; he was part of the revenge plan. But Noelle risks friendship, love, and self to get even with her nemesis, Trina.
"As I reached my locker, fuchsia and tangerine marker screamed to me from across the hallway. 'Loser' in bright, bold letters decorated the metal door. Students gathered around to stare at it as though it was an original Picasso. My cheeks flushed with humiliation. Though the books and supplies I needed for the day resided in that locker, I refused to approach it. The entire audience gawked at me, knowing the label was mine."

I'm so glad I found your blog via A to Z! Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

ReplyDeleteThat is one powerful excerpt. That poor girl. I can see the marker "screaming" Loser... Well done, Susan.
