Six Things I Did Today Instead of Writing

  1. Phone calls, phone calls, phone calls. Kind of like “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!” I am developing cauliflower ear from talking on the phone so much. (hint: if you’re thinking of calling today, maybe don’t).
  2. Driving, driving, driving. (See above). To school, from school, to the doctor, back from the doctor, to the pharmacy and back. Good thing there are no extracurricular activities today or I wouldn’t be able to make all those phone calls. I need to hire a limo service.
  3. Opened up a Word document. It was my feeble attempt to get some writing done, which was cast aside due to number 1 & 2.
  4. Homework. I reviewed my weekly spelling words, my multiplications facts, and read some Percy Jackson. Oh wait! That was my son’s task, but somehow I wound up doing it, too J
  5. Osteopathy. 45 minutes to get there. Youngest had his visit. 45 minutes to get back. It makes me tired just reading about it.
  6. Laundry. My nemesis. My Sisyphean boulder. Just when I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel, it is cut off and stuffed full with more laundry.

  1. Yes, I too suffer the ignominy of laundry tonight. Do you think Hemingway or Satre or Jane Austen did their own laundry? I think not!

  2. Yikes! about the 45-min drive each way. That may be the culprit in sucking all your hours away. :(

  3. I get some of my best ideas doing laundry!!

  4. Ah, a day in the life. :) Hey, at least you opened up the Word document!

I enjoy these posts. Reminds me that we all have things pulling us in so many different directions, and that balance is hard for everyone.

  5. Some days (okay a lot) I do all the small tasks before sitting down to write. There never seems an end to the small tasks though. On the days I start with writing, I get more done.

  7. I'm the queen of 3rd grade HW lately. Somehow that's required to get it done (Note: I don't DO it, I'm just present to make sure the doing gets done). Ack!

And you should teach the kids to do their own laundry. #bestthingIeverdid

  8. Ooh. >_< Those days are terrible when I want to write. Because everything seems to conspire to prevent me from doing so.

Hope tomorrow is a bit calmer for you. :-)

  9. There are totally days when I'm too busy to write too. Everyone has those days. I think it's okay to take those days rather than let that stuff pile up and then explode.
