Six Things I Did...(On Labor Day)

Happy Labor Day everyone! Despite the fact it’s a U.S. holiday, I am still working. But that’s okay.

  1. Surgery Prep. The littlest and I will leave for Denver this next Sunday. I am trying to get myself physically and mentally prepared for his surgery and in-patient status. Must admit, I am quite nervous. Things did not go well last time he had surgery in 2007.
  2. Transferred Fish. My oldest son and I had some mishaps this past week with his aquarium and aquarium animals. Three of them died L The only one that survived was the betta that was in the vase. We think we have the aquarium in good working order now, so we transferred the betta back to it (it was once exclusively his home before the others came and went).
  3. Read. When I am under stress, I often hunker down and read. Right now, I am well into Charlaine Harris’s Dead Until Dark.
  4. Visited blogs. I am participating in Rachael Harrie’s Third Platform-Building Campaign. More about it here. It is fun to meet new bloggers who write the same genres I do.
  5. Discussed 9/11 with the Oldest. We read a kid-section of the newspaper together this morning. At first, he was stressed about the whole thing (as the subject is new to him). But after reading and discussing, he is much better now.
  6. Thought about Writing. Hard to actually do it with a house full of people (no school/no work). But who knows…anything is possible. Right?

  1. You have much going on, much on your mind. When I'm stressed it helps to bury myself in a book too. Wishing you all the best for the upcoming surgery. Sending good thoughts.

  2. Hope the surgery goes okay. Also, good luck with the Platform building campaign! I did it last time and it was fun.

  3. Good luck with the surgery. And maybe during your waiting time you will finish Dead Until Dark. I wasn't a fan, but would love someone else's perspective :)

  4. I LOOOOOOOVE the Sookie Stackhouse series. It sounds melodramatic, but she saved my sanity and gave me strength during rough times in the last 3 years of my life.

  5. Fellow Writing Platform Campaign member making the rounds and saying hello.

I totally relate to the aquarium challenges. My husband had a Beta fish. He bought books on how to care for it, checked the ph of the water, cleaned the tank regularly and then one day it turned into a ball of white fungus and died. Now we have a rabbit.

Good luck with the surgery. Believe in the odds.

  6. Found you via the campaign. Good luck with the surgery. I'm still working on a memoir that involves a lot of hospital stays. Praying for success and a peaceful stay.
