This is my second year participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Last year, I flew by the seat of my pants. This year, I decided to go with a theme: the 1980s. Since my book of short memoirs, My Life as a Misfit, takes place back then, it seemed like a natural choice. Plus, I get to cruise down memory lane.
Yes, I confess, I watched this show. Anyone else remember it, too?
Other 1980's As:
Atari
Alf
Andrea Martin
Air Supply (I owned one of their albums)
Asia
Any others?

Lol My daughters and I enjoyed this show together.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED Alice when I was a kid - I wanted to grow up and be sassy like Flo :) And I played Atari, watched Alf, and still listen to Asia and Air Supply...hah.
ReplyDeleteYou picked a great theme, can't wait to read more!
Atari, Alf and Air Supply - I feel the need to tease my hair up into a poof and wear neon :)
ReplyDeleteWell, kiss my grits! I loved that show. Did you know it was based on the movie, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." At least I think it was:)
ReplyDeleteAs far as your other "A" mentions, I always wanted an Atari, but my mom never got me one. I'm probably better off for not becoming a Space Invaders fanatic like my friends.
Loved the 80's! But I didn't watch much TV. I was busy raising kids, and had a number of teenagers listening to The Cure and other groups, so I probably know more about the rock music of the 80's than the TV shows.
ReplyDeleteI love the 80's. Great choice for A. I'm a fellow A-Zer. I'm following you. :)
ReplyDeleteAtari, Alf and Air Supply I know, but never even heard of that show.
ReplyDeleteUm ... I have a feeling I'm going to get to know a lot of new stuff from your blog this month (considering I wasn't even alive for half the 80's!).
ReplyDeleteI forgot about that show! I used to watch it all the time. "Kiss my grits!" Air Supply reminds me of the bowling alley from when my mother was in a league one morning a week. Loved Atari! I didn't have it, but I spent hours playing at my best friend's house. As for Alf, no comment.
ReplyDeleteI *definitely* remember this show!
ReplyDeleteI heart the '80s.
More A's?
Alphaville
Al TV (when Weird Al took over MTV -- this one from my husband's memory banks)
I'll probably think of more throughout the day. :)
Doh! Comment approval. Didn't see that the first time ...
ReplyDeleteSorry. Now you have three lovely(ish) comments from moi.
Hey, is there a muppet that starts with A?
What a fun theme for this years challenge! I on the other hand have a very "fly by the seat of my pants but somewhat planned" idea for mine. It'll be fun!
ReplyDeleteCara
Don't think I remember the show, but I do like Air Supply on occasion. :-)
ReplyDeleteDidn't watch Alice, but I'm sure I'll know some of the other stuff you have up your sleeve from the 80's
ReplyDeleteI watched Alice on occasion but I loved Atari.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at 80s! I'm doing "music that has inspired me" for my theme (on one of the 3 blogs I'm writing for the challenge) and I KNOW there will be plenty of 80s music profiled :-)
ReplyDeleteYou had me at 80s :-) I have a music theme on one of my 3 A-Z blogs and there will be plenty of 80s music profiled for sure. Though...I missed Air Supply!
ReplyDeletegreat theme! I loved air supply. To the point where someone had thrown a record of air supply away in the park and I took it home and played it on my Dad's record player. It was warped but I didn't care!
ReplyDeleteI loved the spin-off to that show, FLO. I laughed with them both. My post is about Alice, too, though mine is a gothic Alice who knew Ernest Hemingway when he was young!

Oh, but I wish I knew these programs better. We were in Italy and Africa for a good part of the 80s. Programs weren't as international as they are now. CNN was in diapers. Thanks for stopping by. The Challenge is really fun.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. Alice. My disabled daughter Jen sat by me as I listened to the YouTube. We remember Alice! We watched it the eighties. Jen's accident was 1986. Nice backward glance down memory lane. Thanks! And thanks for stopping by and commenting on my A to Z, An Affair to Remember. You'll love it if you like Cary Grant, and Deborah Kerr too. I saw your book. Short memoirs. That's what I love to read, memoirs. I've bookmarked it to buy it on Tuesday. I know it's only 99 cents but at the moment my checking account is in the red (just a quirky month). Cheers!

Oh my gosh, I did watch Alice! How funny to see that video again. I'm a total 80s girl so I love your theme, can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteI had a roomie who LOVED Air Supply and I heard it so much that, I swear, if I hear one more song of theirs I will die. Just die.
ReplyDeleteNostalgia. I was so very small then, and the world so very big. Great choice of theme, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I loved the TV show Alice. It was very well written, and I really liked that the show didn't center around sex the way so many sit-coms do now.
ReplyDeleteI had completely forgotten about that show until now, but yes, I watched it.

I loved Alice, especially watching her son grow through the seasons. 80's theme gets a thumbs up from me!
ReplyDeleteI watched that with my parents. I've seen it a couple of times and still laugh.
ReplyDeleteYes, kiss my grits is right. I did watch. And I'll add A-Ha and the A-team.
ReplyDeletewow... Alice!! That brings me right back! As for Air Supply, my sister LOVED THEM! We would make mix tapes and she would always insist on an Air Supply song every third tune. ah, memories. :)
ReplyDeleteAh! I totally watched Alice. That Flo (was that her name) always cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your A to Z theme. :)
