In the 1980s, we used to go to Dairy Queen in the summertime and order sundaes in a MLB helmet. My brother and I used to have quite a collection.
Of course, there were other memorable things in the 80s, as well:
And these guys…
And this movie…
Other Ds from the 80s:
Diff’rent Strokes
Dead or Alive

I love Depeche Mode.
ReplyDeleteI recall those helmets, but I don't think I ate from one.
The TV shows Different Strokes, Dallas, and Dynasty stand out for me.
We don't have Dairy Queens in England which seems like a shame. I adored Dirty Dancing though - passed that love onto my daughters :-)
ReplyDeleteoh, I was just obsessed with Depeche Mode. I knew every word to every song and would sing them over-and-over-and-over much to my family's chagrin.
ReplyDeleteNever had the Dairy Queen helmets, though....
best,

i had other people twinkling in my eyes in the 80's---been around a long time---dirty dancing is one of my daughter's favorite movies--loving your theme!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I do at least know Dirty Dancing! Interestingly enough, it's one of my boyfriend's favourite old movies, and he's usually into things like Transformers and Clash of the Titans!
ReplyDeleteI love dairy queen. Don't have one near us now, but I miss them.
ReplyDeleteSeen Dirting dancing a few times, but nope I was only alive for half the 80's so don't remember much.
ReplyDeleteDuran Duran was one of my first concerts. Loved them. In the late 80's, I really got into Depeche Mode. They were kind of dark and mysterious and I liked that.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Disco? Wasn't completely dead in the early 80s, or was it?
Depeche Mode - one of the best. And Dirty Dancing is, to this day, a classic. Great post and happy A-Z blogging.
ReplyDeleteDepeche Mode were good, as was Dallas, and Dire Straits, Blondie, Billy Idol (cor!)
ReplyDeleteI loved Duran Duran and Depeche Mode! Great Movie too.
ReplyDeleteMy hub, a baseball devotee, has a few of those MLB helmets. "Dirty Dancing" is a classic.
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading this in My Life as a Misfit. I am really enjoying that book.
ReplyDeleteI laughed because my grandkids used to argue while trying to trade them.
Hi - visiting from the AtoZ linky. An 80s D movie that I love is Deadly Pursuit - not that I would have been old enough to see it when it was released - a few years later on late night tv though. Hope you enjoy the rest of the challenge.
ReplyDeletei still have my Orioles sundae helmet.
ReplyDeleteCool post :)
ReplyDeleteGo Cubs!!! :)

Oh, how fun, I used to love these helmets. We did not have a Dairy Queen near us, but when I visited my grandparents I couldn't wait to go to the one near them.
ReplyDeleteLoved Depeche Mode in the 80s and still do now. :)
We don't have Dairy Queens around here, I don't think. But I've seen them in travels. Ah, Duran Duran--I had that poster. I posted about Depeche Mode today too!
ReplyDeleteThe classic don't put baby in the corner line. I saw that movie so many times!
Love Duran Duran. I even had my hair John Taylor style for a while!
