I actually participated in this. I took a bus with a bunch of other people I didn't know to the middle of Wisconsin and held hands. It was a benefit to raise money to fight hunger and homelessness.
Come on, how many of you are brave enough to admit you participated, too?
Other 1980's Hs:
Hill Street Blues
Hall & Oates (their H20 tour was my first concert ever)
Heathers
Happy Days
Can you think of any others?

That sounds really cool! Oh, Heathers. Now that brings back memories!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do! I hope you got a few photographs of it.
ReplyDelete2nd Heather's that I've seen today! Must be the resurgence of Christian Slater on TV.
ReplyDeleteI didn't participate in HAA but I think we collected and donated in our school.
Heather
Hairspray, preferably Aqua Net
ReplyDeleteWow, that's lovely. Was it really all the way across, all at the same time? Fabulous. I don't think that's been done here - the UK. And we are only as big as one state!
ReplyDeletein case you are interested in my blog, I'm leaving you my A-Z link as blogger always identifies me as my shared blog with other poets - my A-Z is this one: http://www.lizbrownleepoet.com
That's a great thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI did the Moonwalk - walking 26 miles around the streets on London, in a decorated bra, at night, with lots of other women, also in bras. That was a great experience!
Can't say I participated in HAA but I must applaud you for doing so. Must have been quite the adventure.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm showing so much age by remembering Hill Street Blues and Happy Days so fondly. lol!!!
New follower from the A to Z blogging challenge. Really enjoyed your H contribution.

ReplyDeleteHey, I love the cover to your book. I must read - I have the Nook (which I'm still learning about) so do you happen to know if I'd be able to download on Smashwords & transfer over?
Hands Across America. A wonderful concept. All wonderful concepts need to be put into practice, as this one does!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I read your short memoir the other day and loved it! I'll write a review for you. You are one talented writer. Your similes/metaphors are superb. Such vivid details. It was JUST delightful!
Ann Best, Author of In the Mirror & Other Memoirs
Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about this! Isn't it funny that the 80s had so many huge benefits like this? Live Aid, USA for Africa, Band Aid, Farm Aid, etc. It just feels like such an earnest time now when I look back on it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do this, but visit my blog for "L", the precursor to this.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch Happy Days.
Heathers was epic.
I remember that. I didn't participate, but I remember it.
ReplyDeleteHmm... Heart, Human League, Howard Jones, Huey Lewis & The News
ReplyDeleteOr how about some songs... Here Comes the Rain Again, Hey Mickey, Hungry Like the Wolf
