Fantasy Island

All right. Show of hands. How many of you remember this show? Now...how many of you watched this show? I see no one wants to own up to that embarrassment. Seriously, though. Shows like Fantasy Island and The Love Boat were very popular back in the day. That's not to say I ever watched them *hides face in hands*

Both of the starring actors in the show, Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villechaize, have since died. There were many "stars" who made appearances on the show, such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Regis Philbin, and Tori Spelling.

Other Fs from the 80s:

Frankie Goes to Hollywood
45 RPM records (I still had some then)
Family Ties
Footloose

  3. Oh, but you touched a respondent cord with Fantasy Island. Loved that show (was a bit jealous of Ginger). Love Boat didn't quite grab me as Fred Thompson rubbed. Thanks for the smiles down Memory Lane this a.m.

  4. Fantasy Island makes me think of my grandparents. And on this Easter weekend, that's a good thing. Thank you.

  5. I remember these shows very well. Fantasy Island was brilliant just for its scenery! But both shows had a million guest stars! I'm not embarrassed. It was the eighties!

  9. Oh, that takes me back! Until I was 9, my grandma lived in the first floor apartment and we lived in the 2nd floor apartment. I'd go down to her place on Friday nights to watch Love Boat and Fantasy Island.

  10. I've never seen the shows, but I remember "The Love Boat"'s theme tune for some reason? Aww 45RPM records, simpler times...

  11. Ha! *raised hands (both) lol...My hubby and I both recall it, and watched it, too. Sometimes we still joke, "Se plane! Se plane!" Fun post; I enjoyed it.

    Happy A to Z-ing :-)

  13. Ooooohhh... I LOVED Fantasy Island! As a matter of fact--funky coincidence--a couple of days ago I was thinking about it, and about why there's been no reruns or remakes. I mean, there was a Hawaii 5-0 remake--why not FI? It's a much better show, in my opinion (although the Hawaii 5-0 theme song totally rocks). And no, I have absolutely no problem owning up to the fact that I watched this ancient show live and loooooved it :D Great post!

  21. It seems odd that a number of us associate Fantasy Island with our grandparents - I watched both shows, but only when Grandma watched them while I fell asleep on the pull-out sofa in the living room. I remember being a little scared at times - especially watching the Salem Witch Trials episode. Wow, talk about memory lane! :)
