John Hughes truly defined my 80s experience. I was saddened
by this amazing filmmaker’s passing in 2009. It marked the end of a generation.
He was behind many great films, but the ones that I truly appreciated on a
personal level were…
Sixteen Candles
Pretty in Pink
And National Lampoon’s Vacation
because we often spent
something like ten seconds at major scenic places on our trips.
What was/is your favorite John Hughes film?
Other Js from the 1980s:
Jordache Jeans (or was that the 70s?)
John Lennon’s assassination in 1980
Baby Jessica falling down the well
Joanie Loves Chachi
The Jeffersons

Aww, I just want to curl up with some National Lampoon movies now :)
ReplyDeleteyes, such a great film-maker and probably pretty in pink
ReplyDeleteLove Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club! I always had trouble watching Pretty in Pink b/c James Spader's character freaked me out.
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for these movies. Each has a special magic.
ReplyDeleteMovin on up haha I liked just about, if not, all his films. He just did each one so well, not many film makers you can say that about.
ReplyDeleteI only watched the Breakfast Club last year - such a great film, I really wish I'd seen it when I was a teenager.

Loved "Sixteen Candles" the best. Hell, I'll still watch it if it comes on TV. "Oh sexy girlfriend!"
Love the National Lampoon! Sadly not seen your other picks - I'm pretty terrible at movies. :) New follower from the Challenge, nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard about that baby Jessica thing, that sounds grim...
I think Jordache Jeans was 80's. I remember wearing them in high school. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what fun flashbacks! Yes Jordache jeans were certainly in the 80's! But was baby Jessica's fall really THAT LONG AGO??? I'd like to hear what she's up to now as an adult. I loved those movies too, particularly the Breakfast Club. I'm a visiting A-Z blogger and new followerer.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Pretty In Pink. Swooned over Andrew McCarthy and wished for a best friend like Duckie.
ReplyDeleteWho didn't want Jordache jeans? I wound up buying a pair of Sergio Valente jeans because I liked the dark rinse.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite John Hughes movie? Do I have to decide? Maybe Ferris Beuller's Day Off.
A great choice for J. I love all of these movies, and always watch them when they're on reruns.
